One of the main goals of the songwriter tools at TIDAL was to allow songwriters to take control of their catalog and make sure their works and their related metadata are correctly captured throughout the industry.

Songwriter splits are a vital part of that metadata.

A songwriter split sheet is a written agreement that identifies all contributors to a song as well as their ownership percentages of that song.

These ownership percentages determine how publishing royalties will be "split" between creators. When all parties sign, split sheets become legally binding. It's crucial to agree upon split terms before a song is distributed to streaming services or used in any commercial way.

Traditionally splits are captured in a .pdf or on paper.
More recently a lot of songwriters just agree to splits verbally.
There's no easy to use, well designed tool that lets songwriters capture splits.

We built one.
